Section 9: Settings

This section explains the settings used for customizing your device. If settings are described in another section of this user manual, then a cross reference to that description is provided.

Accessing Settings

From a Home screen, touch Accessing Settings Apps – or – Settings.

– or –From a Home screen, touch From a Home screen, touch  Menu ➔ Settings. Menu Settings.– or –

From any screen, touch the top of the screen and swipe downward, to display the Notification Panel, and

then touch then touch  Settings. Settings.The Settings screen displays.

The Settings Screen

The Settings screen has tabs on the left side of the screen. Information related to the tabs displays on the right side of the screen. There are five major groups of settings: Wireless and networks, Device, Personal, Accounts, and System.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi (short for “wireless fidelity”) is a term used for certain types of Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN).

For more information about using your device’s Wi-Fi features, see “Wi-Fi”on page 83.

Activating Wi-Fi Direct

Wi-Fi Direct allows device-to-device connections so you can transfer large amounts of data over a Wi-Fi connection.
